My old friends and colleagues over at JFDI needed some new photos for their LinkedIn profiles, and a new project called The SharePoint Doctors – so of course they came to me.
Business portrait photography is a bit of a psychological business… it’s one thing to get someone relaxed enough to take a good photo of them, but with business portrait photography it’s all about conveying a positive message about the person to whoever sees the photo. Communicating what you need someone to see in just a still photo is a difficult and onerous task, and not to be taken lightly. But judging by the number of my photos I see chosen on LinkedIn as my clients’ profile photos, most people seem to like what I’ve done for them.
It’s different again photographing people you know… but a real laugh… there was barely a dry eye in the house due to the almost constant messing about. But the result was some very relaxed portrait photos of a couple of chaps who are great at what they do for work, but really don’t like having their photo taken – which of course is one of my specialities! If you’re not keen on having your photo taken, give me a call and I’ll do the same for you.
It’s lovely doing photography of babies – their parents love it, and if the baby is a cheerful, ebullient soul like Bertie here then the photos are bound to come out great because he was just soooooooo amenable! He toddled off around the woods, fell down repeatedly in the late Autumn leaves, totally undeterred… and we followed him around in the mist, constantly aware of the woodland magic of falling leaves and incredible Autumnal colours. His mum dressed him in lots of different outfits and we took lots of photos… and here are just a few of the results.
It’s not often you manage to get the whole family together, and Christmas is often one of the few occasions when everyone is in one place – so why not bring them to me for a family portrait to capture the moment forever. Or before Christmas, have a family portrait done as a perfect present for a loved one. I even offer gift vouchers which make the perfect Christmas present for any member of the family. Just get in touch and let me know what you’d like.
I regard the subject of portraiture as one of the broadest areas of photography – and none more so than business portraits. So when Aslan Steel came to me wanting new photographs for his personal trainer web site, it was just another shoot. We took our time and as usual I tried to get my subject feeling comfortable and confident in front of the camera, whilst working out the best lighting, angles, poses and settings to use in order to get the very best results. Some of the poses were strenuous, but Aslan was delighted with the results & ended up recommending me to his friend Jermayne who is also a personal trainer. Jermayne loves his shots too. I’ve shown a few photos from each shoot here. If you’re interested in some sports & fitness photos for yourself, get in touch.
People often assume that portraits have to be done in the studio, but a versatile photographer should be able to take good portrait photos anywhere, using either portable studio lighting or the beautiful natural light. Sometimes the atmosphere provided by a location helps you to relax and get into your… mojo. Perhaps an outdoor location like your favourite beach, or a park – even the playground. Your own home could provide a “Hello Magazine” look and feel, or maybe the sumptuous interiors provided in a hotel, bar or restaurant might be just the the thing your photos need for that original look. Prices from around £99.
Here are some on-location portraits from the gallery… come and book your own shoot soon, and don’t hold back on the location possibilities!
